Panorama circular trail Lake Thun
The Panorama Rundweg Thunersee is an eventful, enjoyable multi-day hike through the Bernese Oberland with views of a majestic lake and mountain panorama, past historic sites and impressive caves.
Lake Thun presents itself from ever different perspectives along the Panorama Rundweg Thunersee. Since 2012, two spectacular suspension bridges have supplemented the lakeside trail: over the Spissibach stream near Leissigen and over the Gummischlucht gorge near Sigriswil. The bridges, the panorama and the views of the lake can be explored on 56 kilometres of hiking trails with only a few metres of altitude gain a few hundred metres above the level of Lake Thun.
One highlight is the spectacular panorama bridge just before Sigriswil. High above Lake Thun, the architecturally modern, very stable construction provides just a little bit of thrill. The Sigriswil panorama bridge is the longest (340 metres) and also the highest (182 metres) of the bridges on the route.
The route continues along Lake Thun to Merligen. From here to Interlaken, hikers on the Panorama Rundweg Thunersee cross paths with pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. From Interlaken the trail leads to Meielisalp high above Leissigen and then on to Spiez in the most beautiful bay in Europe. The suspension bridge over the Spissibach near Leissigen stretches over the stream at a height of almost 60 metres and is 142 metres long. Crossing it is an experience for young and old. At Meielisalp you also enjoy wonderful views over Lake Thun, ambience and hospitality. Afterwards you continue via Spiez to your destination Thun.
